Giving Up Was Never An Option…

dont give up

Have you ever wondered why the famous Wile E. Coyote never gave up trying to catch the Road Runner? Was it because he didn’t have anything better to do? Or did Road Runner steal his girlfriend? Maybe Road Runner said one too many “Yo Mamma” Jokes and Wile. E Coyote said,  “That’s enough”.  Whatever the reason,  it’s important to realize one thing here and that is that ‘Giving Up’ was never an option for Wile E. Coyote.

What I would like to address here is very simple,  yet so many of us,  including myself,  give up on way too many things we set out to accomplish.  You see,  Wile E. Coyote had one thing he wanted to do and that was to catch Road Runner and have him for lunch! It makes me laugh just to think about all the different thoughts  Wile E. Coyote may have been thinking about but one thing is for certain,  Giving Up was not one of them.

Why can Wile E. Coyote (even if he is a cartoon character) be so darn determined to do what he sets out to do without ever thinking about giving up,  but we as humans sometimes give up on something the same day we start it? It’s a relatively simple question isn’t it!? haha…

Stop what you’re doing (even stop reading this for just a sec.) and think about a few things you’ve given up on recently.

Maybe you wanted to diet a certain way but those $.99 tacos from Jack ‘n The Box was too tempting to pass up! Or maybe you were going to exercise for 30 min every day but 3 days in you were too sore to move so you quit.

In reality,  we give up on a lot of things. I’ll even go as far as to say that it’s human nature to give up on almost everything we start.  That’s why its so important to understand the affects of giving up and how you can overcome it just like Wile E. Coyote did.

How to be like Wile E. Coyote in 3 easy steps

I’m going to give you 3 simple things to do right now (don’t give up until you do these!) that I promise will make you a better person,  help you achieve more goals,  and allow you to have more successes in life than you ever have before.

1. Delete “Giving up” from your vocabulary

This sounds stupid but I’m serious about it. Write it down on a piece of paper and frame it in your bedroom or office. It can read,  “Giving Up No Longer Exists In My Vocabulary”.  Your mind is extremely powerful and looking at this daily will give you a head start on eliminating this problem of Giving up.

2. Start small

Let’s face it,  we give up on a lot of things in life. It’s almost ridiculous how many things we actually give up on. Find 2 or 3 small things you’ve recently given up on or just start something new that’s small and practice NOT giving up. Don’t make these too difficult because it is crucial that you actually have some success with this up front. Over time you can build up to the big things like not smoking or working out every day etc.

3. Be held accountable

Wile E. Coyote had an accountability partner and his name was Road Runner. Even if Wile E. Coyote decided to give up trying to kill Road Runner I guarantee the first person to tell him to “keep going” ,  “don’t give up” ,  “you can do it” would be Road Runner. It’s funny I know,  but it’s true.

Find someone you can trust,  maybe someone else that wants to stop giving up on things just like you,  and be held accountable for your actions or lack there of.  Finding a good accountability partner is serious so put some thought in to it.

If you follow these 3 steps I think you will be well on your way to becoming more like Wile E. Coyote.  Just don’t give up!

I never thought I could learn one of life’s greatest lessons from watching cartoons but this just shows you what I knew! The truth of the matter is that Wile E. Coyote can teach us all how to be better people,  accomplish more things,  and get the very most out of what life has to offer us.

I want to encourage you to take this seriously. Be creative and laugh about it,  but be dead serious on eliminating the idea of “giving up”. I promise you it will have a huge impact on your life. I know it has on mine!
